Bibliography
Sources:
Bradford, Sarah. Diana. New York: Viking, 2006. Print.
This novel is a biography on the life of Princess Diana, from when she was young to her death. While it is a big book, there were some good parts about the charity work she did that I can probably use for my research. While this source gives a lot of useless information that unrelated to my topic, I think the content it has that is about my topic will be helpful.
"Diana, Princess of Wales." Bio. A&E Television Networks, 2014. Web. 31 Oct. 2014.
This source gives a biography for the life of Princess Diana. It gives a description of her childhood until her death, giving important dates on her wedding, children's birth, divorce, and death. It doesn’t talk about her personally like, which is great because it shows no bias, and it even touches on her charity work as well. I found this source extremely helpful in getting basic information on who she was and showing how important the charity work was to her, which was important to my research.
Dixon, Niel. "Princess Diana BBC News 31/8/97." Princess Diana. BBC News. London, 31 Aug. 1997. BBC. Web.
This source is a video of Niel Dixon reporting on the charity work that Princess Diana did. It’s not a very long video, but it’s very informative and all the information presented is relevant.
"Humanitarian Work." The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Nov. 2014.
This source gives somewhat of an overview on Princess Diana’s charity work. It talks about how her charity work affected her personal life, how she connected with people, and how she changed the public’s attitude about those whom suffered from HIV/AIDS by using the power she had to public eyes. This source is extremely helpful to my topic as it gives me evidence for the argument I will be making.
Kizer, Holly. "Leadership Theory and Behavior." The People's Princess. N.p., 16 Nov. 2010. Web. 10 Nov. 2014.
In this source, it talks about how Princess Diana is a leader through her charity work and empathy. This is extremely relevant to my topic and argument, which I find helpful and find more confidence in my topic. This source also seems to be a research project someone did, back in 2010, in which the person used sources to explain her argument. The only thing is that they didn't cite their sources at the bottom. This could've helped me find more relevant sources, but oh well. I believe I will be using this source a lot for reference.
Lamb, Christina. "Yes, I Was a Cynic until I Met Her – Diana – In Memoriam." Web log post. Christina Lamb. Times Newspapers LTD, 7 Sept. 1997. Web. 15 Jan. 2015.
This is a blog post about an article, written by journalist Christina Lamb. This gives her side of how she met Diana and her reaction toward her. While a lot of the information here is irrelevant to my topic, there are several good quotes to use throughout the article. The article was also created around the time Diana was alive, making it reliable.
Pettinger, Tejvan R. "Princess Diana Charity Work." Biography Online. N.p., n.d. Web. 09 Nov. 2014.
This source talks about all the charity work that Princess Diana did. I found it nice how they listed quotes at the top of the page, and more resources at the bottom of the page. This source also talks about how she worked in charity, not just mentioning that she does charity and be done with it. I think I'll be using this source a lot for my website with giving examples of her charity and connecting it to her leadership.
Princess Diana Charity Work for African. Digital image. The Royal Fans All About Royal Family. N.p., 25 Nov. 2013. Web. 21 Nov. 2014.
This image shows Princess Diana feeding kids from Africa while there is press around holding cameras and taking pictures of her. It demonstrates how Diana used the media and public eyes to do good things such as this and talking with people who had HIV and AIDS. I think this is a great example of her work that she did and it can be used as a great reference for what her charity work looked like.
"Princess Diana Charity Work The Princess of Wales, Lady Diana Spencer." The Royal Fans All About Royal Family. N.p., 25 Nov. 2013. Web. 21 Nov. 2014.
This source gives a long, detailed description on Princess Diana and the charity work that she did, including sections about her AIDS charity work, her charity work in Britian, land mine work, and her legacy. I think this source is extremely useful as a source for my argument providing both an argument for her leadership and her legacy. While many other sources only gave leadership, this one also provided her legacy in a smaller subsection.
"Princess Diana: Charity Work & Causes." Look to the Stars. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Nov. 2014.
While this source isn’t very long, it lists all the charities and foundations that Princess Diana has supported or founded. This source also lists what charities and people have supported her, and the causes she supported. I think while this isn’t a very large source, it will still be helpful for giving examples of the charities Diana has worked with.
Princess Diana Dies in Paris Car Crash (1997). Perf. John Humphrys. Princess Diana Dies in Paris Car Crash. British Pathé, 2 Aug. 2011. Web. 16 Jan. 2015.
In this source, it talks about what happened when Diana’s car crashed the night she died. It gives great and relative information that can be very useful when I write about her. Although it was posted in 2011, which is over 10 years since the event, it still contains information that other sources say.
Princess Diana: Panorama Interview 1995 (BBC). Perf. Princess Diana. YouTube. N.p., 6 Aug. 2013. Web. 05 Nov. 2014.
This source is an interview between Panorama and Princess Diana. They talk mostly about her personal life and he struggles in marriage and some self harm. I'm not sure if this is too related to my topic, but I believe it's useful to have an idea of what's going on in her personal life to better understand her and her charity work. This isn't a biography on her life, or related to my topic, so I don't believe I'll use this source too much for reference when planning my website, but it's just some useful information.
Spencer, Earl. "Funeral Oration." Earl Spencer's Funeral Oration. Westminster Abbey, London. 6 Sept. 1997. Full Text of Earl Spencer's Funeral Oration. Web. 14 Jan. 2015.
This is the full text of the speech given by Earl Spencer, the brother of Princess Diana, at her funeral. I find this very useful in giving a good idea of how she was thought of, and it can be used for many great quotes.
"Some 2.5 Billion TV Viewers Watch Princess Diana's Funeral." History.com. A&E Television Networks, 6 Sept. 1997. Web. 15 Jan. 2015.
This is a History Channel article that gives an entire description of how Diana died, and information about her funeral. Because it’s the History Channel that’s presenting the information, I trust that this information and source is reliable. It’s also very useful for giving an idea of what happened the day of Diana’s death and funeral.
Whitney, Craig B. "Diana Killed in a Car Accident in Paris." The New York Times [New York] 31 Aug. 1997: n. pag. Print.
This source is an article from 1997 from the New York times about the death of Princess Diana. It was written a few hours after the car accident, and it gives specifics on the information they knew at the time. I found it interesting because it shows how the media reacted to her death, and it gives an idea for what they suspected happened at the time. The article said to have been photographers chasing her on motorcycles, but it was later revealed that the driver could have been under the influence when they left.
