Landmines
Being used in mostly war-stricken countries, landmines are often left and forgotten about once war is over. This has become a huge hazard for farmers working in fields and children who wander unknowing of the danger. Normally, landmines would leave victims severely injured, or even killed. Horrified by this, Princess Diana dedicated her time to help in the fight against using landmines. She worked closely with International Red Cross and Crescent organisation and the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.

The media on the other hand found her actions reckless. They feared for her personal safety as she walked along active landmine fields, but Diana did this to show how innocent people and children were defenseless against a weapon like landmines. Diana had also wrote to the Foreign Office asking to become a roving officer, but she was turned down.
